1. Scope
These General Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the website student-insurance.com, operated by Henry van de Vorming ("we," "us," "our").
student-insurance.com is an independent comparison and information platform. We are not an insurance company, insurance broker, or insurance intermediary (Versicherungsvermittler within the meaning of § 34d GewO), and we do not provide insurance advice or underwrite policies. We present information on third-party insurance products and link you to the providers, who conclude any insurance contract directly with you.
2. Services
Our services include:
- Providing information about health insurance options for international students
- Comparing insurance plans from licensed third-party providers
- Linking you to the providers so you can apply directly on their websites
- Offering editorial guides and tools (e.g. calculators and comparison tables) to help you choose
3. Contract Formation
The insurance contract is concluded solely between you and the respective insurance provider — not with us. When you choose a product on our platform:
- You are directed to the provider's own website via a link on our site
- You complete and submit your application directly to the provider
- The insurance provider reviews your application and decides on acceptance
- Upon acceptance, you receive your insurance certificate and policy documents directly from the provider
Our presentation of insurance plans is for information only and does not constitute a binding offer or individual recommendation.
4. Remuneration & Commissions
In the interest of transparency: we may receive an affiliate commission from insurance providers or their partners when you take out a policy through a link on our website. Any such commission is paid by the provider — you do not pay any additional fees and your premium is not increased by using our site.
Affiliate relationships never determine our rankings or which products we display; our comparisons are editorially independent.
5. Your Obligations
You agree to:
- Provide truthful and complete information in your application
- Notify us and the insurance provider of any changes to your circumstances that may affect your insurance
- Review the insurance terms and conditions provided by the insurance provider before concluding a contract
6. Limitation of Liability
We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence. For slight negligence, we are only liable for breach of material contractual obligations (cardinal obligations), limited to foreseeable, typically occurring damages.
We do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by third-party insurance providers. The insurance provider's terms and conditions take precedence over any information presented on our website.
7. Right of Withdrawal
Using student-insurance.com is free of charge and does not create a paid contract between you and us, so there is no separate right of withdrawal in respect of our services.
Any right of withdrawal for an insurance contract you conclude is governed by the respective insurance provider's terms and applicable law (for distance contracts, typically 14 days from conclusion). To exercise it, contact the provider as described in their documents.
8. Data Protection
Information about how we process your personal data can be found in our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence remain applicable.
10. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is or becomes invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance.
